1. What is roasting in the production of graphite products?

The roasting of the molded green body is an indirect heating process in a roasting furnace with a protective medium under the condition of isolating air, using gas as fuel, and at a specific heating rate. This is an important process in the production process of graphite electrodes.

The essence of roasting is the coal tar pitch's pyrolysis and coking process as a binder. Coal tar pitch decomposes and polymerizes as the temperature increases.

2. What's the purpose of roasting?

After the carbon product is roasted, the binder in the product is converted into coke, and coke grids are formed in the gaps between carbon particles and powder, so that they are closely connected, forming a geometric shape with a fixed structure, and becoming a product with high mechanical strength.

①. Exclude volatile matter;

②. Reduce the resistivity and improve the electrical conductivity of the product;

③. To further shrink the volume and change its physical and chemical properties;

④. To create conditions for the graphitization process;

⑤. The coking binder coal tar pitch.
