The basic tasks of electric arc furnace steelmaking, especially scrap steel-electric furnace steelmaking, are as follows: graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces, and arc power is used to smelt charge to meet the requirements of carbon-neutral policy development.
(1) To melt scrap steel and adjust the temperature of molten steel, the first step is to heat and melt the scrap steel and adjust the temperature to meet the requirements of hydrogenation, reduction, and completion of other tasks on the temperature of molten steel.
(2) Dephosphorization, reducing the impurity phosphorus in molten steel to within the specification range of the steel grade.
(3) Decarburization, to reduce the carbon oxidation in molten steel to within the specification range of the steel grade.
(4) Deoxidation, which removes excess oxygen that is harmful to steel during oxidation and smelting from molten steel.
(5) Desulfurization, reducing the harmful impurity sulfur in the molten steel to the specification range of the steel grade.
(6) Adjust the composition, add alloying elements, and adjust the content of various alloying elements in the molten steel to the specification range of the refining number.
(7) Remove harmful gases and non-metallic inclusions, and use a carbon-oxygen reaction to remove harmful gases and non-metallic inclusions that enter the molten steel and are generated in the molten steel during the smelting process.
The basic tasks of graphite electrode electric Arc furnace steelmaking can be summarized as:
"Four removals" (dephosphorization, decarburization, deoxidation, and desulfurization), "two removals" (removal of gases and impurities), and "second adjustments" (adjustment of composition and temperature).
